FACT:
Island hopping, also called leapfrogging is a term that has several different definitions as it is applied in various fields. Generally, the term refers to the means of crossing an ocean by a series of shorter journeys between islands, as opposed to a single journey directly across the ocean to the destination.
In Cebu, Philippines , this is a term used locally to refer to the day trips that can be taken by boat to hop from one island to another to see different relaxing site. And if you really like cruising on an outrigger boat from island to island, this will definitely be the best way for you to go!For it is something you absolutely must do if you are in Cebu for vacation.
The Native Banca
We arrived at Buot, Punta Engaño by 11:00 am and to get to the boat, we had to pass in a bigger passenger banca which were guided by a long bamboo pole. Then we finally began boarding the boat and started off our trip off the southeastern coast of Mactan Island and took us to some of the smaller islands to the south and east of Mactan.
we finally left with the boat moving with the waves.....
Our first stop was to get cooled off and refreshed. We all dived off into the water and enjoyed the very salty, but best ever crystal clear water.

FYI: For those who are interested , the boat can be rented via any of the beach resorts, or from one of the numerous operators in Mactan. Beware, though, about the pricing; even though bancas are basically the same ,the price can vary hugely depending where you book your boat. Boats are rented usually from 2000 pesos or more (maximum of 12 or even 20 passengers depending on the boat)and it should be noted that stopping by in an island have entrance fees, which are usually about 50 to 150 pesos per head. (Islands namely: Sulpa Island, Caohagan Island, Hilutungan Island, Nalusuan Island)Bringing you own food and drink is encourage but there are some boat cruises discouraged the passengers to bring drinks onboard. They also have different packages to suit your needs; like, a snorkeling activity is definitely possible and perhaps go kayaking or play some beach volleyball before heading to another island for another snorkeling activity.
